On a campaign conference call Monday, a Politico reporter asked Day if there was any similarity between former Gen. Wesley Clark's controversial Sunday comments about McCain's military service and his own remarks about John Kerry during the last presidential campaign.
Day dismissed any equivalence. "The Swift Boat 'attacks' were simply revelation of the truth. The similarity does not exist here," he said. "…One was about laying out the truth. This one is about attempting to cast a new shadow on John McCain."
As one commenter on the CNN blog puts it:

Well, I'm not surprised. Looks like John McCain has jumped on the Karl Rove, lie-and-do-anything-you-have-to, bandwagon.
Here's a comment that got my attention:
You all can just leave Bud Day alone. He is a renowned hero not only in the military service of his country but also in civic responsibilities in NW Florida. Anyone who opposes Bud Day is lacking in civil and national patriotism.
(laughs uncontrollably) Heaven forbid we shine a flashlight on the hypocrisies of our "renowned heroes!"
I know right?
So now we can't even say the man forgets stamps on his letter occasionally because... he was a war hero!!! You're not a true patriot if you dare point out a war hero's faults, no matter how obviously hypocritical.
